Shock closure of Derby Playhouse.

We have been talking recently with Al Geary about Derby Playhouse rumours. Here's his on the spot, late night, note about what happened when he went to the opening night of Treasure Island . . .

We got to Derby Playhouse to be told that it was already closed this afternoon (Thursday) but Directors, actors front of house staff, etc had occupied the place and the one performance was going ahead. Ice-creams, drinks, etc free for all.

Stand-up ovations, tears and speeches. Press Officer in tears, as was Long John Silver afterwards.Chat with Stephen Lowe. He's devastated because His new Brian Clough play has fallen through. I'm doing review anyway, already started it, but off to bed and finish it on the morrow.

Ed Note: We'll carry Al's review with any further information as it comes in.
