Good fun, even if it just misses the target.
Dario Fo’s plays change constantly, reflecting daily Italian politics and building on audience reactions. In 2007 the credit crunch provoked this more substantial, re-titled, reworking of his 1970s hit Can’t Pay, Won’t Pay. It’s still the adventures of working class Milanese as they get caught up in a revolt against high prices by paying only what they can, but now Fo’s targets include more bankers alongside the Pope, the bosses and our politicians.
