Enchanting story telling for small folk
Narrated with charm by Jessica Strawson this version of the famous tale is perfect for small children – simple, unfrightening, frequently funny. It tells how Greta (a bouncy Jessica Arden) realises her brother Kay (James Tobin) has turned nasty and something is amiss. He has been replaced by somebody else and the culprit is the wicked Snow Queen. So off she goes to rescue him, helped and even hindered by an extremely talkative crow, a bird like one has never seen before.

Crow is voiced and manipulated by James Tobin to great effect. It is all very simple, but that is what makes it such good fun. Jessica Strawson, as well as narrating the tale with nicely ingratiating charm, plays the Snow Queen with just the right degree of threat without being actually too scary.

This is a lovely example of theatre for children.
